Quick feet - ladder drill #1

Espoo 30.10.2004

Utility ladders are one of the best dryland training devices for goaltenders. I use them with my goalies all the time and results have been good.

Here is the first drill example in the series of drills that we will publish here at GoaliePro. In these 2 videos you will see how the goalies move sideways through the ladder so that front foot always leads. The idea is to work through the ladder as fast as you can, but be relaxed at the same time. This will help you to develop quicker feet fast.

Drills like this are also excellent for warm-up's.

I often have my back-up goalies do 15-20 ladder drills after the game, so that they will get a workout that evening too.

In this drill remember to alternate your direction so that you get the same number of repeats with both feet leading.
