Butterfly slide is extremely effective move. In this video Kari Lehtonen (Jokerit, Helsinki) is working on his short & quick butterfly slide which he uses in close plays, short lateral passes and rebounds.
A few key points to notice:
- Explosive start
- Lead pad goes down to ice as fast as possible
- Body erected to cover maximum amount of the net
- Hands out in front of the body so that goalie can still use them to play and react instead of just blocking the shot
